HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP)—Kendric Washington scored 21 points and pulled down 11 rebounds as Houston beat Sam Houston State 75-71 Saturday.
The Cougars (5-3) and Sam Houston State (4-2) tied at 63 and went into overtime. Houston then outscored the Bearkats 12-8 for the win.
Zamal Nixon added 14 points and two rebounds for the Cougars. Kirk Van Slyke added nine points, two assists and three rebounds. Van Slyke went 5 of 6 from the free-throw line.
Darian Thibodeaux added seven points, 10 rebounds and three assists, while Adam Brown had seven points, eight rebounds and 10 assists.
Gilberto Clavell led Sam Houston State with 25 points and 10 rebounds and was 13 of 15 from the free-throw line.
Drae Murray added 13 points and eight assists.
