EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (AP)—Demonte Harper scored 35 points and Kenneth Faried had 25 points and 20 rebounds Sunday to lead Morehead State to an 83-64 victory over Southern Illinois-Edwardsville.
Harper made 12 of his 20 shot attempts, including 4-of-6 from 3-point range, for the Eagles (3-3). Faried had half of Morehead State’s 40 rebounds and went 7-for-11 from the field and 11-for-14 from the free-throw line.
Ty Proffitt had eight assists for the Eagles, who ended a three-game losing streak. Morehead State made 65 percent of its shots in the second half, and 52 percent in the game.
David Boarden had 17 points to lead the Cougars (1-6). Corey Wickware had 15 and Gerald Jones 10. SIU-Edwardsville shot 55 percent from the field in the first half to stay within 39-33, but made just 32 percent from outside in the second half to finish the game at 42 percent.
