Preview | Box Score | Recap

FRESNO, Calif. (AP)—Faisal Aden scored 28 points and Klay Thompson added 22 as Washington State defeated Fresno State 66-55 on Friday night.

Aden had 18 of his points in the second half, eight of them during a 14-0 scoring run that helped the Cougars (4-0) erase a seven-point deficit.

Left open on the perimeter by the Bulldogs’ zone defense, Aden finished 6 of 12 from 3-point range.

Garrett Johnson led Fresno State (1-3) with 15 points and Kevin Olekaibe added 10. A putback by Johnson put the Bulldogs ahead 44-37 with 14:55 remaining, but they then went nearly 9 minutes without scoring.

Olekaibe stole the ball from Thompson at midcourt and drove for a dunk with 1 second left to put Fresno State 32-31 ahead at halftime.

It was Thompson’s only mistake in an otherwise stellar first half in which he scored 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting.
