Southern Methodist dominates Wayland Baptist 65-32
DALLAS (AP)—Robert Nyakundi scored 15 points, all on 3-pointers, to lead Southern Methodist to an easy 65-32 win over Wayland Baptist on Wednesday night.
Nyakundi now has 102 3-pointers for his career, making him the 11th player for the Mustangs (3-3) to top the 100 mark.
Papa Dia helped out the Mustangs with 13 points, eight rebounds and a career-high five assists.
The Pioneers, who counted the game as an exhibition, dominated on rebounds, with Rodrigo Silva pulling down a game-high 10 and the team outrebounding their opponents 39-22.
C’Jamarion Leashore and George Williams added nine points each for the Pioneers.
The Mustangs shot 47.9 percent from the field, including hitting 50 percent (13 of 26) from 3-point range. The Pioneers shot just 24.4 percent from the field.
