IRVINE, Calif. (AP)—Aaron Broussard had 26 points and nine rebounds and Mark McLaughlin added 13 points and 13 rebounds as Seattle edged Navy 75-70 Sunday in a subregional game of the 2K Sports Classic benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer.
Cervante Burrell added 19 points for the Redhawks (2-5), who won despite 26 turnovers.
Jordan Sugars scored 21 points and James Loupos and Mark Veazey each had 12 for the Midshipmen (1-5).
Seattle outrebounded Navy 46-29 and shot 48 percent to the Midshipmen’s 37.5 percent.
Two free throws by Broussard broke a 51-all tie with 6:40 remaining, and Seattle never trailed after that. The Redhawks hit 18 of 23 free throws in the second half.
Seattle trailed by seven early before taking a 35-29 halftime lead.
