SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (AP)—Orlando Johnson scored 35 points Saturday night to lead UC Santa Barbara to a 69-54 victory over Fresno State.
Johnson also grabbed 11 rebounds for the Gauchos (2-2). He made 13 of 19 shots from the field, including 4 of 5 from behind the 3-point arc.
He had 23 points in the first half, one more than the Bulldogs, as UC Santa Barbara took a 35-24 halftime lead.
James Nunnally added 12 points and six rebounds for the Gauchos, who made 51 percent of their shots from the field.
Greg Smith led Fresno State (1-2) with 15 points and eight rebounds. The Bulldogs were within seven points with 3:57 to go, but were outscored 12-4 the rest of the way.
