Northern Colorado turns back Wyoming 67-53

GREELEY, Colo. (AP)—Devon Beitzel scored 20 points as Northern Colorado defeated Wyoming for the first time in 73 years, winning 67-53 on Tuesday night.

Chris Kaba added 15 points and eight rebounds for Northern Colorado (1-0). The Bears, coming off their best record in school history at 25-8, had lost 20 consecutive games to Wyoming.

Francisco Cruz had 13 points for Wyoming (1-1), which last lost to the Bears in 1937.

The Cowboys, who still lead the series 49-17, didn’t make a field goal until Djibril Thiam’s rebound basket nearly eight minutes into the game. Wyoming managed only eight field goals and 35 percent shooting in the first half.
