CLEVELAND, Ohio (AP)—Raphael Jordan hit a 3-pointer as time expired to give Bryant a 74-72 win over Iona on Sunday.
The Bulldogs (1-2), who matched their 2009-10 win total, trailed by as many as 13 and were down 55-43 with 11:16 to go. Bryant then went on a 19-5 run to take a 62-60 lead—its first since a 19-18 advantage with 4:48 left in the first half—on Vladyslav Kondratyev’s jumper with 3:52 remaining. Kondratyev had eight of his 10 points during the run.
The two teams went back and forth until Scott Machado’s layup put the Gaels (0-3) ahead 72-68 with 36 seconds left.
Barry Latham hit three free throws to pull the Bulldogs within one with 19 seconds to go. After a timeout Iona’s Dwight Rashon was fouled and missed both free throws, allowing Jordan the chance at the game winner.
Jordan finished with 14 points, Frankie Dobbs 20 and Cecil Gresham 12 for Bryant.
