Wisconsin-Milwaukee holds off UC Davis 73-62
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP)—Lonnie Boga had 16 points and 13 rebounds to lead Wisconsin-Milwaukee to a 73-62 victory over UC-Davis in the third round of the Athletes In Action Classic on Sunday.
Ja’Rob McCallum added 10 points for the Panthers (1-2) while Kaylon Williams and Tone Boyle each had nine.
Joe Harden led UC-Davis (0-3) with 21 points and 11 rebounds, and Mark Payne had 17 points.
Boga had 12 points and 12 rebounds in the first half, helping Milwaukee build a 15-point lead and take a 41-28 advantage into intermission.
Milwaukee struggled from the foul line, hitting just 18 of 33 attempts, and the Aggies were able to close the gap in the second half. UC Davis went on a 6-0 run to pull to within 61-55 with 5:42 left, but it couldn’t get any closer even as the Panthers hit just 5 of 12 free throws down the stretch.
