Loyola Marymount holds off Seattle 104-89

LOS ANGELES (AP)—Vernon Teel scored 24 points and Jarred DuBois added 21 as Loyola Marymount topped the century mark for the first time since 1998 in a 104-89 victory over Seattle Wednesday night.

Drew Viney chipped in 19 points for the Lions (8-7). Kevin Young had 15 points, LaRon Armstead had 11 and Ashley Hamilton added 10.

Mike Boxley scored 21 points to lead Seattle (6-8), and Charles Garcia added 17. Cervante Burrell had 12 points and Chris Gweth 10 for the Redhawks.

Loyola Marymount hit 32 of 54 field goals (59.3 percent). Seattle made 32 of 77 (41.6 percent).

The Lions had a 43-31 rebounding advantage and outscored Seattle 42-28 in the paint.

Loyola led 46-40 at halftime before the Redhawks briefly took the lead on Peter Harris’ 3-pointer that made it 54-52 with 14:42 to play. But Viney responded 19 seconds later with a 3 and the Lions never relinquished their lead.
