BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP)—Rodney Pierce and Sean Smiley scored 14 points each and Buffalo beat Army 74-67 on Thursday night.
Jon Boyer scored 13 points for the Bulls (3-2) and Max Boudreau came off the bench to add 12 points and 10 rebounds. All five of Buffalo’s games have been decided by 10 points or less.
The Black Knights (5-2), off to their best start in 31 years, had a 5-game winning streak snapped.
Julian Simmons led all scorers with 30 points for the Black Knights. Army, which forced 22 turnovers and had 14 steals, kept the game close in the second half after falling behind by 15 points late in the first half.
The Black Knights cut the lead to one point at 58-57 with 4:28 to go, but the Bulls got five straight points from Smiley on two free throws and a 3-pointer to push the lead to 63-57. The Black Knights got no closer than three points the rest of the way.
