LAHAINA, Hawaii (AP)—Led by Matt Bouldin’s 18 points, four players scored in double digits and Gonzaga advanced to the championship game of the Maui Invitational with a convincing 74-61 victory over Wisconsin on Tuesday night.

Steven Gray scored 15 points, Robert Sacre 13 and Elias Harris 12 for Gonzaga (4-1), which will meet Cincinnati in Wednesday night’s championship.

Leading by 10 at halftime, the Bulldogs extended their lead to 14 when Demetri Goodson delivered a coast-to-coast layup with 16:41 to play.

The Badgers (3-1) cut it to 10 four times and finally trimmed it to single digits on a layup by Jon Leuer with just more than nine minutes to go. But they didn’t hit another basket for 7:30 in dropping into Wednesday’s third-place game, where they’ll face Maryland.

Jordan Taylor led Wisconsin with 19 points, while Leuer added 18 and Trevon Hughes 10.

OMG! Ronnie, You obviously know your basketball! Your mad hoops knowledge is just staggering! My favorite part is your professed "love for the mid-majors, but Gonzaga's not even on your map" statement. I'm still in awe of you(lol).. Now, back to reality. A wise man once said "it is better to keep your mouth shut and be thought of as a fool then to open your mouth and remove all doubt". This purtains to you to a tee my friend. The bottom line is the term "mid-major" was coined BECAUSE of Gonzaga Basketball. As someone already mentioned, only Boise State can even compare somewhat to what the 'Zags have accomplished in the past 10-15 years. Thank you Ronnie. We have some lovely parting gifts for you.

Ok. I can't believe that I just defended Gonzaga. I still have some throw up in my mouth. I'm a Saint Mary's grad....GO GAELS in 2010!!!! Let's take down the 'Zags twice baby....It'll be tough though after losing so many players...but that's what they said about the 'Zags and they my be better than last year CRAZY. Even as a Gaels supporter NOBODY including myself can deny what this team has accomplished and not be proud of academic/sports standard that they show year after year. Awesome. With that said...you guys ARE TOAST when you come to Mckeon next month!!! Peace 'til then.

ThomasF. You are an idiot. Bo Ryan has pulled the program back into respectability. I may disagree with the decisions made about Wisconsin's football team, but Barry Alvarez may have the best record of ANY coach in Wisconsin history. So please stop your idiotic ranting.

Well this wasn't exactly what I was hoping for... But Gonzaga's good. VERY good. Mark Few is a genius, and Bo Ryan's boys just got beat. Plain and simple. There's a LOT of season to go yet, Badger fans. Try not to kick yourselves after a big loss to a good opponent TOO MUCH...

On the plus side, how good is Jason Bohannon? Getting eight rebounds against the Zags isn't something just ANYONE can do.

I love you man! guys like you with comments like that are great for the zag fans or at least me. People all the time hack the zags and there conference so I am used to it. I am from Toronto Canada and I have been zags fan since the run of tourney appearances started with Casey Calvary leading the way that cindarella run got me hooked and I have followed them from then till now. For a school that is below average according to ronnie d there have been quite a few nba players over the last decade ( Dan Dickau, Adam Morrison, Ronnie Turiaf, Austin Daye.) And other teams in there conference have made noise in recent years also. I am sure somany people brackets got busted by san diego in 08 and I guess ronnie forgot about the 3 bids the wcc got that year either and if patty mills was not out with a broken hand all year there would of been 5 of 6 years there were atleast 2 bids from the wcc. Oh ronnie go cheer for the tar heals or Briuns and eat a dick!

Oddly, the Zag's mens team may be the 2nd or 3rd best team in WA. So might the US Huskies. The best team is the Zag's woe-mens. Got to see them to believe, but you will if you do.

    Ronnie B,
You know nothing about basketball and everyone on this message board should not even listen to him. I have coached for 6 years and all coaches and announcers know that Gonzaga is an elite program in the country. They have a coach with the 3rd best winning percentage of any program in the country. The only other schools in from of him are Duke & Kansas. Ronnie B learn the game before you talk about it m friend. Anyone can post when they know nothing about basketball and sound like an idoit.
Thanks for the laugh today Ronnie that Gonzaga is not elite.

i watched the zags whup wisconsin, and was cheering all the way. i'll pull for them all season long unless they play michigan state, or michigan. they gave michigan state a helluva game, and a few close calls maybe made the difference. go zags.

Gonzaga is the most special story in all of sports in the last fifteen years , I think maybe Boise St. is the only story that compares, here in Spokane we dont have a lot to do but cheer for the Zags during are long cold winters, any one who dogs this program should try and get a ticket to the Mac, even for a mid major West Coast Conference game. Thank You Zags for all the great moments.

    Wow Ronnie D,
If you think Gonzaga is such an average program, why are you checking out their scores and making comments on internet message boards? There have been numerous high-major schools that have tried to pry Coach Few out of Gonzaga but he knows how good he has it there. The win their conference every year, go to the tournament every year, beat numerous high-major conference teams every year. Why would he go to some school like Oregon and make the tournament once out of every five years?

Ronnie D - No need to reply to your post because you obviously don't know a thing about basketball to make such a stupid statement. That is all.

HA Ronnie. Funny. They choke every year in the Tourney? They choke every time? Name two in the last five years? Last year they lost to NC in the sweet 16, the year before they lost to a severely underrated Davidson that made the Elite Eight. In 07 they blew a first round against Indiana, in the year they had lost Morrison, then their top big man for a marijuana arrest in mid season. In 06 they lost to UCLA in the sweet 16, in 05 they lost to Texas Tech by 2 in the second round.

Back yourself up when you talk smack. Also several teams have gone after Coach Few, including his alma-mater Oregon and Arizona, who he both turned down, because he loves Spokane.

Zags & Cincinnati will be fast paced with many powerful runs to the backboard; not be mention high flyers from beyond the arch. It will be close all the way to the final seconds. Player conditioning, fouls and charity shooting may well decide the outcome. Gonzaga knows how and why to win. The Bulldogs chalk-up another and find their spot in the Top 25.

Gonzaga is an average team, with exception to last year they choke every year in the NCAA tourney. As far as there coach, if he was sooo great, some major college would have paid him big bucks to leave there by now, everyone but Gonzaga fans realize how easy they have it in there weak conference!! I wont even mention Adam Morrison being one of the greatest flops in NBA history. I like mid majors, but these guys arent even on the map as far as I am concerned when it comes to top basketball programs!

The Maui championship game should be a good one between Cincinnati and Gonzaga. It appears that they are two pretty evenly matched teams. The winner will definitely be ranked in the top 25.

This a fine Gonzaga team, especially considering how many starters they lost from last year, a team that made it to the elite eight and lost to UNC. Elias Harris and Robert Sacre add a new dimension this year. Matt Bouldin and Steven Gray are outstanding players returning. Mark Few, in his modest way, has done a wonderful job with this program, especially considering the tough academic standards that constrain him at the school.
