WEST POINT, N.Y. (AP)—Julian Simmons scored 16 points, including sinking three free throws in the final 21 seconds, to lead Army in a 56-53 win over Harvard on Monday night.
Harvard led 51-50 with 1:44 to go after a Jeremy Lin free throw, but Army went on a 6-2 run the rest of the way to seal the win.
The Black Knights (3-1) led by four points at halftime, but the Crimson (3-1) went on a 9-2 run to open the second half and take their first lead at 30-29 less than 5 minutes into the period. The teams traded leads the rest of the way until Army’s game-winning run.
Cleveland Richard was the only other Army player in double figures, scoring 12. Simmons finished 3-for-6 from 3-point range and 5-for-7 from the foul line.
Oliver McNally paced Harvard with 15 points. Lin, Harvard’s leading scorer on the young season (15.3), went 0-for-6 from the floor and finished with six points.
