NEW YORK (AP)—Will Walker and Dar Tucker scored 17 points apiece and DePaul ended its 18-game losing streak with a 67-57 victory over Cincinnati on Tuesday in the opening round of the Big East tournament.

The 16th-seeded Blue Demons (9-23) avoided the most losses in a season in school history and advanced to the second round against eighth-seeded Providence on Wednesday.

Mac Koshwal had 12 points and nine rebounds for DePaul, which last won Dec. 28 against Alcorn State.

Deonta Vaughn had 15 points for the Bearcats (18-14), who dropped to 0-3 all-time in the Big East tournament.

Cincinnati led 41-38 before the Blue Demons went on a 15-2 run during which the Bearcats missed 13 of 14 shots from the field.

Tucker, limited to five minutes in the first half because of foul trouble, scored all his points in the second half—nine in the final 5:30.

Count, you are a fool! People like and Jerry Tarkanian will always get humbled eventually with any college game that is supposed to have, or should have some kind of integrity! Huggins and Cincy may have been able to dominate a few years in C-USA while Louisville was in some down years, but, they will never Dominate the Big East!! Give me a break!!

Huggins is a great coach and WVU will be in the tournament every year. UC did not graduate players when Huggins was there but who cares. If you wanted him to graduate players he should have been a professor and not a coach. Good luck to the bearcats miserable future while WVU dominates the Big East.

Huggins coaches Cincinnati for more than 10 years and not one student graduates from the program, I guess Rob, its not the responsibility of the Coach and Athletic Director to oversee a program that graduates student-athletes!!

Hey Richard W! You too funny!! You have convinced me! The evidence is clear! I mean such a program like DePaul to produce the likes of Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, and Larry Bird, and Tiger Woods!! Man, that's not just Dynasty, that's like.............well superlatives fail me here......but I get your arguement!!! I mean if DePaul can beat UConn, Pitt, and Louisville, that's like they have already won the NCAA tournament! Just cancel the NCAA, tell all the teams to go home, and give DePaul the trophy! I am beginning to see the light Richard W!! You are a genius, and here all your torturers were calling you an Idiot!!

It is a shame to see such a great program slide into the ranks of also runs. Although I am not a Cincy fan I have always been an admirer of their well coached program. They only have to thank the SKIRT that runs the university and her politically correct views for the firing of Bob Huggins. Good luck in the future, your going to need it..

It's fully arrived! UC is now a mid-major...again. The moral victory is back in vogue, the 'we're building for the future' lies are being dropped at every turn. More than that I am sick of being asked to believe that 'we are ahead of schedule' and 'nobody thought we'd be this far along'. What?? What schedule are we ahead in, the race to embarrasing losses?

No you guys are idiots. DePaul is the next dynasty in college basketball. They have also won the NC for foosball, football, twister, monoply, and women's bball in this DECADE! How can anyone argue that DePaul isnt gonna win it all?

You guys are the idiots my friends.

U C student here. It's funny what a good coach can do for a program. (coughing...Brain Kelly) Taking a team from the basement to the top of the league is what a solid head coach can do for a program. We're doomed to be the armpit of the Big East as long as we have a weasel for a head coach.

DePaul national champions? Uh, what planet is this on? The Blue Demons should have stayed in C-USA. The Big East is way, WAY out of their league. 9-23 is pathetic. Not sure what happened to them since the glory days of the 80's but they have definitely hit bottom...and are still sinking. Too bad. It was once a great program here and they used to pack the gym. Those days are over. we need somebody like Huggins or a guy like Pitino to salvage this mess.

Richard W, I don't think you should forget about Indiana! If they can run the table in the Big 10 tourney, they'll give DePaul a run for their money in the NCAA tourney. With Hansborough, Isiah Thomas, Chris Webber and that other really great white dude, the Hoosiers could make some serious noise!

Ok give me one reason not to argue this. DePaul has been the most consistent school in college bball history over Arizona when making the NCAA Tourney. Remember the team with Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley, Larry Bird and Magic Johnson? DePaul is an amazing school for basketball and I guarnette you that their starting point guard, Stephon Curry, will have a great NBA career.

DePaul honestly could win the NCAA Tournement if they win the Big East. Yes they went 0-18 in the Big East but big deal. If they make the tourney I will guarenette they will be a #1 or #2 seed. Anything lower would be horrible. At the end of this, I still see Radford as the #1 overall seed with Miami and Davidson as the other two #1 seeds. Correct me if I'm wrong but DePaul is one of the best teams in the COUNTRY!!!!!!!!!!!

Cronin has no clue how to coach in game situations as evidenced by all the loses in games that they should have won. He rants and raves after the game and talks, and continues to say "we should have done----" and it is quite evident that the players have no confidence in him as a head coach.
He should go back to Classs III schools and learn how to coach real players and forget the "X" and 'O's".
We need to get a real coach and bring back some pride to Bearcat basketball!!!!
