UMBC beats Albany 68-64

Preview | Box Score | Recap

BALTIMORE (AP)—Chauncey Gilliam scored 19 points and Darryl Proctor added 13, including hitting 4 of 4 free throws in the game’s final 29 seconds, to lead Maryland-Baltimore County in a 68-64 win over Albany-New York on Sunday.

The win, in the season finale for both teams, snapped a three-game skid for the Retrievers (13-16, 7-9 America East Conference) and avenged an 80-71 loss to Albany on Jan. 25. The Great Danes (14-15, 6-10) ended the season with two straight losses and dropped seven of their last eight.

Matt Spadafora also added 13 points for UMBC. Gilliam was 4-for-6 from beyond the arc in the win.

Tim Ambrose paced Albany with 19 points and Will Harris recorded a double-double, scoring 11 and grabbing 11 boards. Jerel Hastings also chipped in 11 points.

UMBC trailed Albany by five points at halftime, but outscored the Great Danes 39-30 in the second half.
