Oakland, Mich. beats UMKC 100-88
ROCHESTER, Mich. (AP)—Erik Kangas had a game-high 30 points and Keith Benson added 28 as Oakland University beat UMKC 100-88 at home on Saturday night.
Kangas also made 5-of-12 3-pointers and registered his 119th triple, breaking the single-season Summit League record previously set by UMKC’s Michael Watson during the 2002-03 season.
Spencer Johnson led UMKC (7-24, 3-15 Summit) with 24 points and eight rebounds. Bakari Lewis had 16, while Dane Brumagin and James Humphrey added 14 and 13 respectively.
Oakland (20-11, 13-5) shot 54.9 percent (28 of 51) from the field, including 41.2 percent (7 of 17) from behind the three-point arc. Jonathon Jones had 18 points and Dan Waterstradt grabbed eight rebounds for the Golden Grizzlies, whose 50-38 halftime advantage proved to be the final margin of victory.
