HAMPTON, Va. (AP)—Eddie Hayden and Michael Harper each scored 16 points to lead Coppin State to a 67-43 win over Hampton on Saturday.
Sam Coleman chipped in with 11 points for the Eagles (11-16, 8-5 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference), who have now won four straight. Tywain McKee finished with 10 points, nine rebounds, eight assists and five steals.
Coppin State jumped out to an early 12-2 lead and later claimed a 34-16 advantage at halftime. The Eagles held Hampton (12-14, 5-7) scoreless for almost six minutes in the second half, jumping out to a 46-23 lead after McKee hit two free throws with 12:52 remaining.
The Eagles shot 49.1 percent from the field (26-for-53), while Hampton only managed to shoot 30.9 percent (17-for-55).
The Pirates were led by Christopher Tolson, who scored 10 points.
