Manhattan defeats William & Mary 54-39

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (AP)—Chris Smith scored 12 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in Manhattan’s 54-39 win over William & Mary on Saturday.

The Jaspers (16-11) shot 57.1 percent from the field (12-for-21) in the second half, helping Manhattan to its fifth win in the last six games.

Trailing 30-28 with 10:37 left in the game, the Jaspers scored 11 unanswered points for a 39-30 lead with 6:45 to play.

Darryl Crawford paced Manhattan with 17 points and Antoine Pearson added 11 points.

The Tribe (9-18) had just one double-digit scorer in Danny Sumner with 11 points and seven rebounds. David Schneider, who was averaging 17.4 points for William & Mary over the last five games, scored only seven points.

The Tribe, who shot 27.1 percent from the field (13 of 48), turned the ball over 16 times that led to 16 Manhattan points.
