SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP)—Kyle Austin and Javon Borum scored 15 points apiece, and UC Riverside held off San Jose State 53-52 on Saturday night despite going scoreless in the final five minutes.
Jesse LoBue had 10 points and seven rebounds for the Highlanders (15-10), who missed two field goal attempts and two free throws while committing four turnovers in the final 5:05 after Kyle Austin’s basket put them ahead 53-46.
C.J. Webster scored four of San Jose State’s six points down the stretch, but Adrian Oliver missed a jumper with 2 seconds left, capping a 2-for-10 shooting night for the Spartans’ (11-14) leading scorer. Oliver, who averages 19.5 points, managed just five against the Highlanders.
Webster led San Jose State with 15 points in a reserve role, and Robert Owens had 11 in the Spartans’ final nonconference game of the season. San Jose State has lost four of five.
