Yale beats Cornell 72-60
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP)—Alex Zampier’s 15 points led four Yale players in double figures to defeat Cornell 72-60 Friday night.
Yale avenged a 64-36 loss to the Big Red just three weeks ago. The Bulldogs (10-13, 5-4 Ivy League) also got 14 points from Travis Pinick, 12 from Ross Morin and 10 from Chris Andrews.
Cornell, which had won 12 of its last 13 games, was led by Ryan Wittman with 21 points. Jeff Foote added 14.
The Bulldogs led for much of the first half but a late run by the Big Red (17-8, 7-2) gave them a 34-32 lead at the half.
Cornell quickly built a 41-34 lead to start the second half. Then Yale scored the next 11 points and never trailed again.
The game was tied at 49 when Yale took the lead for good on a pair of free throws by Morin with just over eight minutes to play.
