Monmouth tops Robert Morris 60-57

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. (AP)—Will Campbell’s jumper with 1:27 to play broke a 57-57 tie and propelled Monmouth to a 60-57 win over Robert Morris Thursday night.

The Hawks (7-21, 5-10 Northeast Conference) trailed by as many as 12 points in the second half before a Travis Taylor dunk ignited an 18-0 run that gave them a 47-41 lead. Campbell accounted for 10 points during the run.

Robert Morris (19-9, 13-2 NEC) battled back to tie the game at 52-52 on a three-point play by Jeremy Chappell with 4:37 to play. The teams then matched 5-0 runs, setting the stage for Campbell’s decisive shot.

Campbell led Monmouth with a game-high 23 points. Taylor added 18 for the Hawks.

Chappell scored 15 points and had a game-high 10 rebounds to lead the Colonials.
