Cornell beats Dartmouth in 2OT
ITHACA, N.Y. (AP)—Louis Dale had 18 points to lead four Cornell players in double figures, and Cornell beat Dartmouth 79-76 in double overtime Saturday night.
Alex Barnett led the Big Green (6-16, 4-4 Ivy) with 22 points, Ronnie Dixon had 14, and David Rufful and Elgin Fitzgerald each had 12.
A layup by Dale gave Cornell (17-7, 7-1) a 45-27 lead with 15:28 left in regulation, but the Big Green staged a furious rally and Barnett’s jumper with 35 seconds left tied it at 61-all to send the game into overtime.
A dunk by Jeff Reeves gave Cornell a 71-69 lead with 16 seconds left in the first overtime, but Rufful hit a jumper with two seconds left to tie it.
In the second extra period, Chris Wroblewski hit two free throws, Jeff Foote made a layup, and Geoff Reeves made two more foul shots to put Cornell ahead 79-73 with 17 seconds left and secure the Big Red’s 19th straight win at home.
