FULLERTON, Calif. (AP)—Josh Akognon scored 20 of his 29 points in the second half as Cal State Fullerton rallied for a 72-65 victory over UC Santa Barbara on Thursday.
Chris Rhymes added 11 points and Gerard Anderson had 10 points, six assists and five rebounds for the Titans (12-10, 6-4 Big West).
Jaime Serna scored 20 points and Chris Devine added 20 points and 12 rebounds for the Gauchos (8-13, 2-7).
The Gauchos led 45-23 early in the second half, but Fullerton moved ahead 65-64 on Anderson’s 8-foot jumper with 2:03 to play.
The Titans then made seven of eight free throws in the final 1:18. Santa Barbara scored just two points and failed to make a basket in the final 4:42.
Fullerton shot 57.1 percent in the second half, including 8-for-13 from 3-point range.
