NEWARK, Del. (AP)—Juwan Carter hit a 3-pointer with 42 seconds left in overtime to give Delaware a 73-70 win over Drexel on Wednesday night.
The Fightin’ Blue Hens (10-14, 4-8 Colonial Athletic Conference) were led by Marc Egerson, who finished with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Brian Johnson added 20 points, and Carter finished with nine.
Delaware held a 64-61 lead with less than a minute left in regulation, until Drexel’s Tramayne Hawthorne hit a 3-pointer with 14 seconds remaining to force overtime.
In the extra period, both teams exchanged baskets and the game was tied twice before Carter’s 3-pointer gave Delaware a 70-67 lead.
Drexel had one final chance at the end, but Hawthorne missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer, and Delaware escaped with the victory.
Drexel (12-9, 8-4) was led by Scott Rodgers, who scored 20.
