NORFOLK, Va. (AP)—Gerald Lee scored 19 points and had 11 rebounds to lead Old Dominion to a 71-62 victory over Towson on Tuesday night.
It was Lee’s second double-double of the season for the Monarchs (14-8, 7-5 Colonial Athletic Association), who won for the fourth time in five games.
Trailing 51-47 with 9:27 remaining in the game, Old Dominion took command by going on an 18-5 run to lead 65-56 with 4:37 left.
Lee keyed the run with nine points.
Towson’s David Brewster countered with a 3-pointer to cut the advantage to 65-59 with 3:49 left, but the Tigers (8-16, 3-9) couldn’t get closer and lost for the eighth time in nine games.
Frank Hassell added 17 points and nine rebounds for Old Dominion, which outrebounded Towson 46-31.
Jarrel Smith led the Tigers with 14 points and Robert Nwankwo had 13 points and 13 rebounds. Troy Franklin added 12 points.
