IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP)—Jeff Peterson and Devan Bawinkel hit back-to-back 3s late in overtime and Iowa beat Wisconsin 73-69 Wednesday night, snapping a three-game losing streak.
Wisconsin’s Jordan Taylor forced overtime with a long 3 at the second-half buzzer, but the Hawkeyes rallied to beat the Badgers for just the second time in 12 tries.
David Palmer had a career-high 21 points in just his second career start to lead Iowa (12-7, 2-4 Big Ten).
Peterson’s 3 put the Hawkeyes ahead 67-62 with 1:42 left in overtime, and Bawinkel 3’s gave Iowa a 70-64 lead.
Taylor answered with a quick 3 to pull the Badgers within 70-67 with 42 seconds left in OT. But Taylor and Jason Bohannon then missed back-to-back 3s and Matt Gatens hit two free throws that put Iowa ahead 73-67 with seven seconds left.
Marcus Landry’s putback brought Wisconsin within 59-57 with 10 seconds left in regulation, and Taylor followed with a game-tying 3.
Landry had 13 points to lead Wisconsin (12-6, 3-3), which lost its second straight game in overtime and third overall.
