Preview | Box Score | Recap

KENNESAW, Ga. (AP)—Kelvin McConnell scored 20 points to lead Kennesaw State in a 70-69 comeback win over Florida Gulf Coast on Sunday.

The Eagles (8-12, 4-5 Atlantic Sun Conference) jumped out to a 16-3 lead in the game’s opening minutes and led 40-31 at the break. But Florida Gulf Coast couldn’t hold on, as the Owls (6-10, 2-5) charged back in the second half to take the lead for the first time on McConnell’s 3-pointer that made it 59-58 with 7:25 left.

The Owls led the rest of the way as layups by McConnell, Jay Mitchell and Kurtis Woods in the final 3 minutes sealed the win. Reggie Chambers hit a 3-pointer with 8 seconds left to pull the Eagles within one point, but that’s as close as they would get.

Woods finished with 18 points and Zadrian Gibson added 10 for the Owls.

Chambers led the Eagles with 15 points, going 3-for-4 from beyond the arc.
