COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (AP)—Daniel Northern scored 13 points to lead Tennessee Tech to a 61-55 win over Murray State on Saturday night.
Northern, who also grabbed seven rebounds and blocked five shots, was the only player to score in double figures for the Golden Eagles (9-8, 3-4 Ohio Valley Conference).
Danero Thomas led the Racers (8-9, 3-4) with 15 points and Ivan Aska had 10.
After Tennessee Tech led 34-27 at halftime, the teams traded leads throughout the second half until the Racers’ Isacc Miles scored on a layup to tie the score at 52-52 with 1:55 left in the game. But the Golden Eagles went on a 9-3 run from that point, hitting 7 of 8 free throws down the stretch to seal the win.
Tennessee Tech got its revenge over Murray State with the win, as the Racers won the last matchup in the OVC tournament’s opening round last season.
