Beinert keys Holy Cross over Army 47-36
WEST POINT, N.Y. (AP)—R.J. Evans had 17 points and Andrew Beinert added 14, allowing Holy Cross to beat Army 47-36 on Wednesday night.
It was the third straight loss for the Black Knights (4-12, 0-2 Patriot League).
The Crusaders (7-10, 2-0) were 5-for-11 on 3-pointers, and Beinert made four of them.
Cleveland Richard led Army with eight points, and John Moonshower, Doug Williams, and Marcus Nelson each scored six points as the Black Knights shot just 30 percent.
Army trailed just 21-19 at halftime, but after Josh Miller’s 3-pointer, the first basket of the second half, gave the Black Knights a one-point lead, Colin Cunningham’s layup put Holy Cross back in front to stay.
Adam May then hit a 3-pointer, Evans followed with a layup, and Beinert hit three straight 3-pointers and a jumper to give the Crusaders a 39-30 lead midway through the period.
