NEW ORLEANS (AP)—Eric Vianney scored 18 points as Tulane beat Rice 65-54 on Saturday.
Vianney was a perfect 6-for-6 from the field, including 5-for-5 from 3-point range. The junior guard also added six rebounds and five assists for the Green Wave (7-8, 1-1 Conference USA). Kris Richard added 16 points.
The Owls (5-10, 0-1) were led by Lawrence Ghoram, who finished with 17 points on 5 of 10 shooting. Rodney Foster chipped in with 11 points and five assists.
The halftime score was 28-28, until the Green Wave used a 15-4 run late in the second half to take a 50-40 lead. The Owls never got closer than six points after that.
Tulane shot 39.3 percent from the field (22-for-56), and finished with 19 assists as a team. They also outrebounded Rice 37-29.
