PRINCESS ANN, Md. (AP)—Neal Pitt scored 19 points and had 14 rebounds to lead Maryland Eastern Shore past Winston-Salem State 69-66 on Saturday.
Jamie Boyer scored all of his 14 points in the first half for Maryland-Eastern Shore (2-9). Gary Lee added 11 points and Keishawn Mayes had 10 for the Hawks.
Winston-Salem State (4-9) shot 65 percent in the second half and took its first lead of the game, 60-59, with 2:42 remaining. But the Rams were held without a field goal over the next 2:37 and escaped with the win.
Maryland-Eastern Shore outrebounded the Rams 38-31, but was just 6 of 20 from 3-point range.
Brian Fisher led the Rams with 24 points and Jamal Durham chipped in 10.
The Hawks survived 36 percent shooting in the second half in the win.
