MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP)—Chief Kickingstallionsims scored 23 points to lead Alabama State in a 60-46 win over Grambling State on Monday night.
Rashad Provitt added 15 points, including going 2-for-4 from beyond the arc, for the Hornets (5-7, 2-0 Southwest Athletic Conference).
Jamal Breaux led the Tigers (2-11, 0-2) with 12 points and Donald Qualls added 11, including hitting 3 of 6 3-pointers.
The Hornets shot 43.6 percent from the field (24 of 55), compared to a 32.7 percent mark (18 of 55) for the Tigers.
Alabama State led 35-27 at the break and held Grambling State to just 19 points in the second half. The Hornets ended the game on a 10-4 run.
