MISSOULA, Mont. (AP)—Anthony Johnson scored a career-high 31 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead Montana to a 73-59 win over Montana State on Saturday night.
Jordan Hasquet added 17 points for the Grizzlies (7-7, 1-1 Big Sky), who overcame 2-of-15 shooting to start the game. Montana’s next highest scorer, Kyle Sharp, finished with six points.
Hasquet’s baseline jumper with 19 seconds remaining in the first half gave Montana a 27-22 lead going into the break. Johnson, who was 8-of-14 from the field and 15-of-16 from the free throw line, scored eight straight points in the second half to give Montana a 64-52 lead.
Will Bynum led the Bobcats (7-6, 0-2) with 14 points, and Erik Rush added 13 points and five rebounds. Bobby Howard finished with 10 points and six rebounds.
MSU hit only 33 percent of its field goals compared to 46 percent shooting by Montana.
