Iowa State rolls past SIU-Edwardsville 91-55

AMES, Iowa (AP)—Freshman Justin Hamilton scored a season-high 16 points and Iowa State rolled to a 91-55 victory over Southern Illinois-Edwardsville on Saturday night.

Bryan Petersen added 13 points for the Cyclones (10-4), who scored the most points in Greg McDermott’s three seasons as coach.

Diante Garrett scored 12 points and had eight assists as Iowa State won its third straight after an embarrassing 65-58 home loss to South Dakota State.

Aamir McCleary’s 16 points led SIU-Edwardsville (4-12), which was playing its eighth straight road game but had won its last two.

Trailing 8-2, Iowa State went on a 17-3 run and was in control the rest the way. The Cyclones put together a 17-5 run in building a 41-25 halftime lead and led by as many as 41 in the second half.

Hamilton, a 6-foot-11, 255-pounder making his third straight start, hit his first five shots and finished 7-for-9 from the field, including three dunks.
