UCF defeats Sam Houston State 86-70

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP)—Jermaine Taylor scored 23 of his 26 points in the second half, and three other Central Florida players scored in double figures as the Knights cruised to an 86-70 victory over Sam Houston State on Saturday night.

Taylor hit only 6 of 15 shots from the field, but hit 14 of 16 from the free throw line. A.J. Rompza finished with 15 points, six rebounds and five assists for Central Florida (9-4). Isaac Sosa scored 13 points, and Tony Davis finished with 10 points and seven rebounds.

Corey Allmond led the Bearkats (6-7) with 20 points and Lance Pevehouse added 12. Sam Houston State committed 23 turnovers.

Central Florida trailed 12-4 with 11:38 remaining in the first half. The Knights went on an 18-0 run in the next three minutes to take a 22-12 lead en route to a 33-21 halftime advantage.
