Oakland U. beats North Dakota State 77-76
ROCHESTER, Mich. (AP)—Erik Kangas’ game-winning three-point basket with 7.2 seconds left lifted Oakland University to a 77-76 victory over North Dakota State on Friday night at the O’rena.
Ben Woodside’s two free throws had given North Dakota State a 76-74 lead with 23.4 seconds left.
Oakland (10-7, 3-1 Summit) was led by Keith Benson’s team-high 17 points. Drew Maynard and Johnathon Jones added 15 and 13 respectively.
North Dakota St. (8-5, 3-1) was led by Brett Winkelman, who scored a season-high 33 points.
The Golden Grizzlies led 35-34 at halftime, but North Dakota St. used a 13-3 run to take a 47-38 lead early in the second half. Oakland responded with it’s own 19-5 run, taking a 57-52 lead after Blake Cushingberry’s 3-pointer with 11:16 left.
