LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP)—Lawrence Ghoram and Rodney Foster each scored 16 points to help Rice to a 79-72 victory over Arkansas-Little Rock on Sunday.
Ghoram made five rebounds; Foster, four. Lucas Kuipers added 15 points, and Trey Stanton added 10. It was Rice’s first road win of the year.
The Owls (5-7) trailed 34-31 at the half but outrebounded the Trojans (8-4) by 12 over the final 20 minutes while shooting 55.6 percent from the field.
With the game tied at 53-all, Stanton gave Rice the lead for good with a short jumper with 7:09 to go.
UALR’s John Fowler led all scorers with a career-high 23 points. He added five rebounds and three assists, but was unable to fend off the Owls despite scoring 18 points in the second half.
Shane Edwards and Matt Mouzy each added 11 points.
