BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP)—Andy King scored 20 points and Samford shot 71 percent from the field in the second half to defeat Louisiana Tech 71-58 on Thursday night.
Samford (4-4) made 12 of 17 field goals while hitting 15 of 16 free throws in the second half to overcome a 28-26 halftime deficit.
Samford used a 12-0 run to take the lead for the first time with 16 minutes left at 36-34.
King made 7 of 8 field goals and was 6 of 7 from behind the 3-point line for Samford, while Bryan Friday added 13 points.
Although Louisiana Tech (5-6) outrebounded Samford 25-17, it was outgunned from 3-point range. Samford made 11 of 20 attempts from beyond the arc, while Louisiana Tech made 3 of 15.
Kyle Guyton led Louisiana Tech with 15 points. Kenneth Cooper added 13 and Kyle Gibson chipped in 12.
