HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP)—Damier Pitts scored 13 points and dished out 10 assists to lead Marshall to a 73-68 win over Ohio on Wednesday night.
Pitts scored 10 points and had six assists in a second half in which Marshall held its biggest lead, 58-45, with 9:20 left to play.
The Bobcats (4-6) tied the game at 66 on a DeVaughn Washington layup with 1:28 left to go, but Marshall (5-4) outscored Ohio 5-2 the rest of the way. Chris Lutz hit a 3-pointer with 1:13 left, breaking the tie for the Thundering Herd. Ohio’s Steven Coleman then cut the deficit to one point on a layup with 0:39 remaining.
Pitts scored the rest of Marshall’s points, all on free throws.
Tirrell Baines added 14 points and Tyler Wilkerson had 12 for Marshall.
Washington scored a game-high 18 points for Ohio, followed by Jerome Tillman with 14, Steven Coleman with 13 and Justin Orr with 11.
