Return to OriginalCHARLESTON, S.C. (AP)—Jermaine Johnson had 14 points and 11 rebounds to lead College of Charleston to a 73-58 win over Coastal Carolina on Wednesday night and give coach Bobby Cremins his 500th career victory.
Cremins, who is in his third year at Charleston, is now 500-336 in 28 seasons. He also coached 19 years at Georgia Tech and six at Appalachian State.
Charleston (8-1) overcame an eight-point deficit in the first half to lead 37-34 at halftime. The Cougars started the second half with a 17-2 run to pull away from the Chanticleers (3-7), coached by Cremins’ old rival Cliff Ellis. Ellis was at Clemson when Cremins coached the Yellow Jackets.
Dustin Scott added 14 points for Charleston and Andrew Goudelock and Donavan Monroe each scored 11.
Logan Johnson led the Chanticleers with 12 points and Steven Sexton added 11.
