SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP)—Chris Linton scored 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Savannah State to a 53-49 victory over Kennesaw State on Tuesday night.
The Tigers (6-4), who had lost four of their previous five games, took a 27-24 lead into halftime. The Owls (5-4) then surged to a six-point lead at 42-36 with 8:44 left as Kelvin McConnell scored 12 points of his 16 points.
Savannah State held Kennesaw State to seven points over the last eight minutes, taking the lead with 4:24 left on two free throws by Patrick Hardy.
Linton was 5-for-6 from the field for the Tigers while Anthony Jones added 10 points.
Savannah State also enjoyed a 39-28 rebounding advantage, 14-6 on the offensive board.
McConnell, who was 5 of 7 from the field and 3 of 5 from 3-point range, was the only Kennesaw State player in double figures.
