ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP)—Roman Martinez scored 17 points and had a career-high 12 rebounds while Chad Toppert matched a career scoring high with 21 points as New Mexico beat Mississippi 103-70 on Saturday.
Martinez added five steals and four assists and Toppert made 5-of-6 from 3-point range. The Lobos (6-4) never trailed and had no trouble with Ole Miss (6-3).
Daniel Faris added 18 points for New Mexico and Tony Danridge scored 17. Point guards Dairese Gary and Nate Garth, a freshman, each had career highs in assists with 11 and 10, respectively.
Chris Warren led the Rebels with 17 points in their most lopsided defeat of the season.
Although Ole Miss got within 12-11 after a 3-pointer from David Huertas with 13:53 remaining before halftime, New Mexico regained the momentum with an 8-0 run that included consecutive 3-pointers by Toppert.
The Lobos led 49-32 at the break, then used a 17-2 streak midway through the second half to build their largest lead at 88-58. Danridge then had slam dunks on consecutive possessions as New Mexico made it 97-66.
Mississippi reserve De’Aundre Cranston was ejected with 7:09 to play in the first half for a flagrant foul when he elbowed Faris on the chin.
