BOONE, N.C. (AP)—Kevin Tiggs scored 31 points to lead East Tennessee State to a 89-70 victory over Appalachian State on Saturday night.
Tiggs shot 10 of 11 from the free-throw line for the Buccaneers (6-3), who also got 29 points from Courtney Pigram and 18 from Mike Smith. Pigram grabbed eight rebounds and Smith was 4-for-8 from beyond the arc.
Isaac Butts scored 13 points, grabbed 15 rebounds and blocked five shots for the Mountaineers (4-3). Ryann Abraham scored 15 points.
The Mountaineers led by two points at halftime, but the Buccaneers came out strong in the second half. ETSU broke the game open with a 35-15 run that put them up 70-52 with 8:20 remaining.
The Buccaneers shot 56.5 percent (18-for-32) in the second half compared to a 38.4 percent mark (12-for-31) for the Mountaineers.
