MOREHEAD, Ky. (AP)—Demonte Harper scored 21 points and Morehead State broke an 11-game losing streak to Ohio Valley Conference rival Murray State with a 79-74 victory on Saturday.
The Eagles (3-6, 2-0) built a 19-8 first-half advantage on a 3-pointer by Robert Murry.
Murray State (5-2, 1-1) trimmed the score to 41-36 at the half.
A 3-pointer by the Racers’ Isacc Miles with 14:48 remaining tied the game for the first time at 50.
Murray State led 73-69 on a 3-pointer by Matt Fraliex with 5:31 to go, but the Eagles rallied.
Murry hit two free throws with 1:40 left on the clock to put Morehead State ahead for good at 74-73.
Kenneth Faried added 18 points and 12 rebounds for the Eagles. Murry came off the bench for 14 points and Maze Stallworth had 13.
Miles paced Murray State with 17 while Ivan Aska and Tyler Holloway each scored 12.
