KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP)—Dane Brumagin scores 28 points to lead Missouri-Kansas City to a 70-62 win over IPFW 70-62 in Summit League play.
Spencer Johnson added 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Kangaroos (4-6, 1-1 Summit League), who survived several missed free throws late in the game that allowed the Mastodons to stay close.
UMKC led 33-27 at halftime but was up by only two points midway through the second half before going on a 13-3 run to go up 60-48.
The Kangaroos missed five straight free throws in the final two minutes to allow IPFW to keep it close, but clutch free throws late helped UMKC pull away.
David Carson led the Mastodons (3-5, 0-2) with 13 points and Jeremy Mixon had 10. Delivez Yearby had a game-high 13 rebounds for IPFW, which outrebounded UMKC 45-35.
