Presbyterian beats Coastal Carolina 56-53 in OT
CONWAY, S.C. (AP)—Josh Johnson scored 17 points as Presbyterian rallied from an eight-point second-half deficit to beat Coastal Carolina 56-53 in overtime Wednesday night in the conference opener for both teams.
Trailing 47-39 with 6:20 left, the Blue Hose (3-4, 1-0 Big South Conference) tied the score at 49 on Johnson’s fifth 3-pointer of the game. Presbyterian blocked a Joseph Harris shot to force overtime.
Presbyterian jumped out to a 53-49 lead in overtime. The Chanticleers (1-6, 0-1) cut the lead to two at 2:05, but couldn’t overtake the Blue Hose.
Al’Lonzo Coleman scored 12 for Presbyterian and Bryan Bostic added 11.
Anthony Breeze led Coastal Carolina with 14 points and nine rebounds, while Steven Sexton added 13 points and Mario Edwards had 10.
Coastal Carolina was 5 of 11 from 3-point range, but made only 4 of 11 from the free-throw line.
