BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP)—Freshman Tom Pritchard scored a season-high 23 points and Indiana pulled away in the second half to beat Cornell 72-57 Sunday.
The Hoosiers (4-2) led by 13 points late in the first half and 35-29 at the break, but Cornell (4-3) came within two points early in the second period and within four with just over 9 minutes to go.
Devan Dumes then scored for Indiana and Pritchard and Kyle Taber added rebound baskets as the Hoosiers built the lead back to 10. A 3-pointer by Malik Story and two free throws by Daniel Moore pushed Indiana’s lead to 62-48 with under 3 minutes remaining, and the Big Red came no closer than 12 the rest of the way.
Nick Williams had a season-high 18 points and Dumes added 13 for the Hoosiers. Cornell was led by a career-high 28 points by Ryan Wittman, son of NBA Minnesota Timberwolves coach and former Indiana player Randy Wittman.
