HACKENSACK, N.J. (AP)—Mike Rose scored a game-high 20 points and pulled down eight rebounds to lead Eastern Kentucky to a 69-57 win over Akron in the Legends Classic on Saturday night.
Dayvon Ellis added 11 points and Papa Oppong had eight rebounds for the Colonels (4-2). Brett McKnight came off the bench to lead the Zips with 16 points, while Anthony Hitchens added 10.
Akron led early on, but Eastern Kentucky closed out the first half with a 25-13 run to take a 32-25 lead at the break. The Zips, though, battled back and eventually tied the score at 54-54 with 4:17 left to play, but the Colonels closed the game on a 15-3 run to earn the win.
