Illinois State beats Nicholls State 75-65
NORMAL, Ill. (AP)—Osiris Eldridge scored a season-high 24 points, including four 3-pointers, to lead Illinois State to a 75-65 victory over Nicholls State Friday in the World Vision Invitational.
Three other Redbirds (5-0) scored in the double-digits in a game that saw eight lead changes. Champ Oguchi scored 18 points, including six free throws and 10 rebounds. Lloyd Phillips had 15 points and Emmanuel Holloway chipped in 10 points.
Illinois State led 40-35 at the half. But Nicholls State (1-2) shot better from the field overall with 57 percent compared with Illinois State’s 50 percent.
The game was tied 59-59 with 6:32 left. The Redbirds then made an 8-0 run on 3-pointers by Holloway and Phillips. The win was secured with a pair of jumpers by Oguchi and Eldridge.
Ryan Bathie led the Colonels with 17 points and Fred Hunter added 15 points.
