HAMILTON, N.Y. (AP)—J.D. Pollock scored a career-high 24 points, leading Kennesaw State to a 54-50 victory over Colgate on Wednesday night.
The Owls (3-2) clamped down defensively in the second half and extended their lead to 38-30 on a putback by John Allison with 8:47 remaining. Allison’s dunk made it 42-32 with 6:17 left and Pollock hit a pair of jumpers to give Kennesaw State a 46-34 edge with less than five minutes left.
Colgate (2-1) was led by Mike Venezia with 13 points and seven rebounds. Yaw Gyawu had 11 points.
Colgate rallied with an 8-0 run late in the first half and went into the locker room down 20-19 after a 3-pointer at the buzzer by Trevaron Vinson.
